Amherst Early Music Festival Concert Series 2008

All concerts in Evans Concert Hall, in Cummings Arts Center, at Connecticut College.
Concerts begin at 7:30 unless indicated below.
Admission for evening concerts free to participants; tickets available to general public for $20/15 for students and seniors.
All-Festival concert pass may be purchased for $99.

Recordings and some videos of the performances will be available for purchase after the Festival is over.

7/8 Ciaramella "Were I a Falcon I would soar on high": Music for high winds and voices by Josquin Desprez, Heinrich Isaac, Heinrich Finck, and others.
Adam Gilbert, Rotem Gilbert, Greg Ingles, Douglas Milliken, Debra Nagy, and Erik Schmalz, winds; with Anna Levenstein, soprano, and Temmo Korisheli, tenor.

7/10 Amherst Baroque Soloists "Virtuosic Music of Germany" Julianne Baird, soprano; Dana Maiben, violin; Saskia Coolen and Han Tol, recorder; Janet See, flute; Washington McClain, oboe; Dominic Teresi, bassoon; Rainer Zipperling, viol and cello; and Arthur Haas, harpsichord.

7/11 Opera Project: Johann Georg Conradi's Ariadne Fully staged with singers, dancers, and orchestra, directed by Alexander Weimann. Drew Minter, stage director; Dorothy Olsson and Kaspar Mainz, dance directors, Julianne Baird, vocal coach; Ronnie Snader, costumes; and Lawrence Rosenwald, texts.

7/12 1:30 p.m. Baroque Academy Student Concert (free admission)
3:00 p.m. Workshop Student Concert (free admission)
7:30 p.m. Faculty Concert; Michael Barrett conducts the All-Workshop Collegium in works by Lasso and Hassler.

7/13 1:00 p.m. Harpsichord Rally: short harpsichord recitals featuring Arthur Haas, Peter Sykes, Webb Wiggins, and others. In Crozier-Williams. (free admission)

7/15 Sommerfest! German secular music from Oswald von Wolkenstein to Ludwig Senfl.
Directed by Robert Eisenstein, with Anne Azema, Daniel Johnson, Temmo Korisheli, voices; Mary Springfels, Loren Ludwig, and Heather Lardin, viols; Daniel Stillman and Tom Zajac, winds.

7/17 Abendmusik A revival of the traditional 17th and 18th century public concert performed in Lübeck.
Vocal and instrumental repertoire performed by AEM faculty.

7/18 Music for the Hapsburg Emperors Sacred works in 16 parts from the court at Vienna, ca. 1600, by Lambert de Sayve, Georg Posch, and Giovanni Priuli
Directed by Wim Becu, with Daniel Stillman and Kiri Tollaksen.

7/19 1:30 p.m. Virtuoso Recorder and Recorder Seminar Concert (free admission)
3:00 p.m. Workshop Student Concert (free admission)
7:30 p.m. Faculty Concert; Robert Eisenstein conducts the All-workshop Collegium in works by Isaac and Senfl.
