Audition Information
2013 Due dates for audition materials:
April 1 Baroque Academy Singers
May 1 Baroque Academy Instrumentalists, Ensemble Singing Intensive, and Recorder Special Programs
Register Online with $30 Registration Fee at any time, choose 'Register with Audition' for your program.
Submit Audition Materials any time before due date by email or post.

Recorder Special Programs, Baroque Academy (including Baroque Opera Project)
To submit audition materials digitally, send to auditions@amherstearlymusic.org with your name, and the program you are applying to in the subject line. Please attach your résumé and 10-15 minutes of music demonstrating your technical ability, musical expression, and understanding of performance practice. For 2013, please include a selection from one of the English-speaking countries. Recordings should be submitted as MP3s (MP4s); if you would like to send examples in another format, contact us at info@amherstearlymusic.org to make sure we'll be able to review your materials.. Résumés are accepted in PDF or .doc formats. Singers auditioning for the Baroque Opera Project should also include a head shot and a brief physical description: hair color, eye color, height, weight. Photographs (for singers) are accepted in any standard format. If you need to send more than one email due to large file sizes, please label them "1 of 2", "2 of 2", etc.
You may also mail your audition materials. Please send CD, photo (singers), and résumé to Amherst Early Music, P.O. Box 229, Arlington, MA 02476.
Ensemble Singing Intensive
Applicants are encouraged to submit audition materials digitally. Please address your e-mail to auditions@amherstearlymusic.org , with the subject line following the format "ESI - Your Name, Voice Type", and attach the relevant materials (read below for specifics). If you are unable to send materials online, you may mail them to: Amherst Early Music, P.O. Box 229, Arlington, MA 02476.
Please submit the following:
1. A brief description (one or two paragraphs) summarizing your musical background and experience, including formal and informal musical training and education. You may submit a résumé in lieu of this description if you prefer.
2. A recording of a piece or excerpt of a longer piece, composed between 1400-1800, that demonstrates vocal technique and musicianship. The piece may be accompanied or unaccompanied. Please include in your submission information about the piece (composer, title). The recording should be in mp3 or mp4 format.
3. (optional) A recording of an additional piece or excerpt, not longer than 2 minutes, composed between 1400-1800, in a contrasting style.
The director may contact you for additional material or information if needed.
