The Amherst Baroque Academy is a program for serious music students: advanced amateur, pre-professional, or professional singers and instrumentalists, who wish to deepen their understanding of Baroque music and style in a dynamic workshop setting. Master classes, ensemble coaching, and special topics classes and presentations form the nucleus of the Academy.
This year we will focus on music heard in England, in particular the gorgeous and exacting solo and ensemble music of Henry Purcell and nationalized Englishman George Frideric Handel, complimented by the incredible diversity of imported repertoire heard in London, one of the most cosmopolitan cities of Europe.
Pitch is a=415.
Singers may audition for either the opera project Purcell's "The Fairy Queen" or the chamber music program, which includes a performance on Saturday.
Audition deadlines:
Opera Project singers April 1, 2013
Instrumentalists and other Special Programs, May 1, 2013
