Caecilia-Concert and Bruce Dickey at AEMF 2012

Caecilia-Concert Performance and CD!

The Caecilia-Concert of Amsterdam will perform a program called “Musikalische Lustgarten” at the Amherst Early Music Festival on Thursday, July 19, 2012.  Cornetto superstar Bruce Dickey joins Wouter Verschuren, dulcian, Adam Woolf, sackbut, and Kathryn Cok, harpsichord, for their AEMF debut. In May, the group released their new CD “Castello and Co.”  To hear clips of this fantastic new release go to http://www.caecilia-concert.com/shop

the Ballo delle Ingrate, from Baroque Academy to Bleecker Street

 

On June 3rd, the New York-based Baroque company Musica Nuova will present Monteverdi’s Il Ballo delle Ingrate in a production that originated at Amherst Early Music in 2002. Co-creator Lawrence Rosenwald describes the origins of Ballo and previews the upcoming performance.

 

1702 Singballett from Sondershausen

Dorothy Olsson and Kaspar Mainz write about their reconstruction for Amherst Early Music Festival 2012 of part of a performance of a Sing-Ballett (a ballet with singing) from early 18th century Germany. The excerpts will be produced with singers and the festival Oboe Band on Saturday, 14 July.
