After a year of focused work on 15th century notation topics, we close our current season before the summer break with a 4-week online series featuring a “casual” selection of shorter pieces from late 15th and early 16th century sources. This series is designed for both ongoing students to review some of the basic concepts of mensural notation, to deepen and enjoy the fluency gained over the past few months of studies, and for new students to join in for a first practical experience with mensural notation (please indicate at registration if you are taking this class with no prior background Click here to show mail address
). Practice involves gaining fluency in C-Clef reading, ligature review and practice, and a review of basic rules for triple mensuration. Recorded audio files of the music will be available as practice reference and to play along with.
