Make Amherst Early Music Your Legacy

Legacy Giving is a great way for you to support the work of AEM on into the future without reducing your current assets. Make Amherst Early Music your legacy of music for future generations!

Here are some of the possibilities:

  • Name Amherst Early Music in your will
  • Donate insurance policies
  • Name Amherst Early Music as a beneficiary of an insurance policy
  • Donate retirement asset accounts, such as an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b)
  • Establish a Charitable Trust

Your Will

To make a charitable bequest, your will needs language creating the gift. You can have a new will prepared or add language to an existing will. Your gift can be a percentage of your estate, or a specific bequest of cash, securities, or property. This type of gift is simple to create and may be changed at any time before your death. Consult an attorney or tax professional to find out what’s best for you.

Life Insurance

You may own a life insurance policy with accumulated cash value where the original purpose for the protection no longer applies – such as to educate children now grown or to provide other financial security. You can redirect your life insurance policy to support a worthy cause. When you assign us ownership of a life insurance policy and name us as the beneficiary, you receive an income tax charitable deduction, available under most circumstances. You can also simply name Amherst Early Music as the beneficiary without transferring the policy.

Charitable Trust

A charitable trust is a trust established for charitable purposes either during your lifetime or through your will. Some charitable trusts can actually increase your spendable income. Charitable trusts are generally created in consultation with legal and tax professionals as part of an overall estate plan.

Retirement Assets

You can name Amherst Early Music as a beneficiary if you die owning retirement assets. As a nonprofit organization, we are tax-exempt and can receive the full amount, bypassing any income or estate taxes.

Please note that the giving ideas discussed here are not intended as legal or tax advice. For such advice, consult an attorney or tax professional.

Amherst Early Music Inc is a 501(c)3 organization with Tax ID 13-3345308.
